What to Do Right Now

These steps keep you comfortable and may help your technician arrive with the right parts.

01
Check your thermostat
Make sure it's set to COOL and the temperature is set below room temp. Replace batteries if the display is dim or blank.
02
Check the circuit breaker
Find your electrical panel and look for tripped breakers labeled "AC," "Air Handler," or "HVAC." Flip them fully off then back on once.
03
Check the air filter
A completely clogged filter can shut the system down. If it's grey/black and you can't see through it, replace it now.
04
Note any error codes
If your thermostat or air handler has a blinking light or error code, write it down or take a photo โ€” it helps us diagnose faster.
05
Close blinds & interior doors
If AC is out in summer, close blinds on sun-facing windows and close off rooms you're not using to concentrate cooler air.
06
Don't run it if it's ice-covered
If you see ice on the outdoor unit or copper lines, turn the system OFF but leave the fan on. Running it frozen causes compressor damage.

Emergency HVAC FAQ

Quick answers while you wait.

In most DFW metro areas, we can have a licensed technician on-site within 1โ€“3 hours. During peak summer heat, same-day service is still available but scheduling fills up fast โ€” call as early as possible.
There is a standard diagnostic fee for all service calls. For after-hours emergency calls (evenings, weekends, holidays) an additional after-hours fee applies. Our dispatcher will quote this clearly before dispatching a tech โ€” no surprises.
In Texas summer heat, yes โ€” especially for elderly, infants, or pets. Warm air can mean a refrigerant leak, failed capacitor, bad compressor, or frozen coil. Most of these can be diagnosed and often repaired same-day.
Call us immediately. In the meantime: check your pilot light if you have a gas furnace, check for a tripped breaker labeled "furnace" or "air handler," and check if your thermostat batteries are dead. If you smell gas, leave the home immediately and call your gas provider.
Yes. We service all major brands including Trane, Lennox, Carrier, Rheem, Goodman, York, Daikin, American Standard, and more. We are a Trane Comfort Specialist dealer and keep common parts in our service vehicles.
If the repair cost approaches or exceeds half the system replacement cost, we'll let you know and give you an honest replacement quote with no pressure. We can often install a new system within 1โ€“2 business days of diagnosis. Use our Estimate Tool for replacement cost ranges.
Yes. We handle emergency HVAC for commercial properties including offices, restaurants, retail, and warehouses. After-hours commercial emergency calls are available โ€” see our Commercial HVAC page for service contract options that include priority emergency response.
